The shoemaker’s tales – Via Crescenzio

This book is the first in a series of short tales that a shoemaker from Trastevere (Pietro Russo) tells describing his relationship with a chief inspector of police (Antonio Cosentino) who has turned from a client into a friend. In this story, a strange episode happens that upsets a condominium in Via Crescenzio, in the Prati district. Two spouses are found dead in the courtyard after falling from the eighth floor. With the help of Valentina Rinaldi, his right arm, Cosentino starts to investigate several tracks. Firstly among the inhabitants of the building an then where the couple work. But it is only by confiding every day with his shoemaker friend that Cosentino manages to exploit his investigative and deductive qualities, often appropriating his ideas with his office colleagues. The shoemaker knows it well but does not care much, because helping a friend is much more important.
